Dear Friends:
After 3 ½ years of environmental review, more than 30,000 public comments and submissions, and hundreds of public hearings, meetings and events, the Vineyard Wind 1 project has now received all federal, state and local approvals required to begin construction of the nation’s first commercial scale wind project.
And we couldn’t have reached this point without your support.
Together, we have reached a landmark milestone in the effort to combat climate change.
Vineyard Wind 1 will power more than 400,000 homes in Massachusetts with clean and renewable energy starting in 2023 and save ratepayers more than $1.4 billion over the lifespan of the project.
Most importantly, the project, together with others coming down the pipeline behind it, will create thousands of good paying jobs in our region.
We feel a great responsibility being first and know that the good example we set for responsible offshore wind projects must become the industry standard.
It is with deep gratitude and appreciation that we now begin the hard work of building Vineyard Wind 1.
From our entire team: Thank you.
We can’t wait to continue to engage with you every step of the way as we make history because at Vineyard Wind, we are truly powered by you.
Sincerely,
Vineyard Wind
