Bringing clean windpower to Massachusetts
Vineyard Wind is hoping to develop the first utility-scale offshore wind energy project off the coast of Massachusetts, generating clean, renewable and cost-competitive energy to power thousands of homes and businesses across the state. Vineyard Wind is a portfolio company of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a leading infrastructure investment fund manager, with expertise in offshore wind project development, finance and construction. CIP has had a role in the development and construction of more than 1,000 megawatts of offshore wind capacity in Europe.
Vineyard Wind is focused on developing and building a state-of- the-industry clean energy facility that delivers cost-competitive electricity, creating thousands of jobs and while protecting the environment and surrounding habitat. Vineyard Wind also has a close partnership with a local organization, Vineyard Power, to build community support for their project.
Vineyard Wind features a combination of global and local experience – some of the best in the industry. Executives with CIP have had a hand in development and construction of some of the world’s largest offshore wind energy projects, while the local Vineyard Wind team has been involved in permitting Wind projects in the Northeast.
Vineyard Wind hopes to help Massachusetts meet its commitment to procure 1,600 MW of clean offshore wind energy. The energy generated from wind turbines is not only safely and reliable, but it is completely emissions-free and cost-competitive with conventional sources of electricity.
