SCOUR PROTECTION

OFFSHORE WIND MARINER UPDATE NO. 76

REVISED

STATUS: Active

Through June 3, the 507' stone placing vessel FLINTSTONE will continue placing Scour Protection stones within the Lease Area at the 62 planned Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) and 1 Electrical Service Platform (ESP) foundation locations. Placement is done in two phases, first a filter layer of stone is placed, followed by a layer of armor stone. To date, stone has been placed at 59 of the 63 locations with 36 locations having both filter and armor stone layers and 23 locations having the filter stone layer installed.

The ongoing operation involves the FLINTSTONE working within the lease area for approximately 4 days and then returning to port to reload stones. To complete the work, it is expected to make two trips to port.

All Mariners transiting or fishing in the area are requested to give a 0.5 NM wide berth to the FLINTSTONE as it is limited in its ability to maneuver. Vessels in the vicinity of the stone placing operations are requested to operate in a manner as to not endanger the vessel or associated equipment. Passing arrangement can be made via VHF with the vessels.

The scour protection locations are listed below, and visually depicted, which NOAA is marking on nautical charts. For fishermen dragging in the area, it is recommended that they consult the nautical charts and input the scour protection locations into their navigation systems. Electronic files that are compatible with different navigation systems can be downloaded at this link: Online map viewer and Plotter downloads. Vineyard Wind will also provide thumb drives with the data by contacting Fisheries Manager Crista Bank at 508-525-0421 or cbank@vineyardwind.com.

During the remainder of the scour protection installation, Fishing Vessels will remain on site as Safety Vessels (weather permitting) to assist mariners in navigating in vicinity of the operations and providing scour protection locations. Safety Vessels are listed below and will rotate throughout the remainder of the construction activities.

DATE(S): Ongoing and continuing until June 3, 2023.

LOCATION(S): OCS-A 501 lease area, scour protection will be placed at each Wind Turbine foundation point. Positions listed below and visually depicted on the attached chart.

Safety/Scout Vessel Statement:

The Safety/Scout Vessel listed as working on this project may at times work on other projects and for other developers. We will try to keep the list updated, but occasionally the vessels switch from one project to another overnight to back each other up for short periods of time and this will not be reflected on the website.
