Vineyard Wind Announces Dana Rebeiro Hired as Massachusetts Community Liaison

Former New Bedford City Councilor will Lead the Company’s Efforts for Community Engagement and Outreach

(New Bedford, MA) – Vineyard Wind today announced the hiring of former New Bedford City Councilor Dana Rebeiro as Community Liaison with a particular focus on New Bedford, the South Coast and Cape.  Her hiring comes at a time when the company is gearing up to bring both clean, renewable energy and job opportunities to the area.

“We’re pleased to bring Dana on board at this critical juncture for our first project,” said Chief Development Officer Rachel Pachter.  “Vineyard Wind 1 is going to need a well-trained and diverse workforce to meet the needs of this growing industry as well as frequent opportunities to engage with the company.  Dana’s experience will be a tremendous asset as we work to ensure that local communities receive the greatest possible benefit when it comes to jobs and other opportunities and are well informed as the project moves forward.”

As a Councilor she advocated for homeowners and working people in the city on various community issues, building partnerships with different organizations to raise the profile at the city and state level.  Recently, Dana collaborated with the New Bedford Port Authority to bring the aquaculture industry to the city, helping to diversify an already thriving maritime industry in the region. She worked closely with the International Longshoreman’s Association to advocate for improvements to the Pier.

“I’m so excited to be a part of a company that’s looking to invest not only in my hometown, but in towns and cities throughout the state and the region,” said Dana.  “Offshore wind energy will bring not only jobs and other economic benefits, it will also reduce pollution and help communities that have long suffered because of poor environmental conditions.”

Dana is active in volunteer and civic engagement in New Bedford, having worked with the Cape Verdean Recognition Parade, New Bedford’s AHA night and youth mentoring.

"Throughout her career, I've witnessed Dana fully dedicate herself to giving a voice to our community,” said State Representative Antonio F.D. Cabral (D - New Bedford). “I am confident, that as the new Community Liaison at Vineyard Wind, Dana will continue to serve and lead -- by promoting clean energy efforts and thoughtfully listening to the needs of all South Coast residents and workers. Dana works tirelessly for others and I am incredibly excited to see her thrive in this position.”
